What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers, are injectable substances that are used to restore volume and fullness to areas of the face that have lost their plumpness or have wrinkles and fine lines. They are commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and add volume to the skin. At our office in Crown Point Dermal Fillers can be used to treat a variety of areas including the cheeks, lips, chin, neck, hands, glutes and around the eyes.

They are a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment option that can provide natural-looking results with minimal downtime. However, it is important to note that like all medical treatments, there are potential risks and side effects associated with dermal fillers, so it is essential to have them administered by a qualified and experienced professional.

What to Expect from Dermal Fillers

When receiving Dermal Fillers Crown Point patients can expect to undergo a quick and relatively painless procedure that typically lasts around 30 minutes. The area to be treated will first be cleaned and numbed with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort. The filler will then be injected into the targeted area using a fine needle or cannula, and the treatment area may be massaged to ensure the filler is evenly distributed.

Patients may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising after the procedure, but these side effects should subside within a few days. Results from Dermal Fillers are often immediately noticeable, with fuller and smoother-looking skin in the treated area. The longevity of the results can vary depending on the type of filler used and the patient’s individual response, but most fillers last anywhere from 6-18 months before additional treatments are needed to maintain the results. It is important to follow post-treatment instructions provided by the medical professional to ensure optimal results and minimize any potential risks or side effects.
