Crown Point Photofacial at Crown Med Spa

We love the sun! Unfortunately, years of exposure to its UV rays can add up, even when you’re careful about sun protection. This can lead to premature aging in the form of lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries, and uneven skin texture. The photofacial is known for its ability to minimize the appearance of these concerns, providing a more radiant, silky smooth complexion. To plan your personalized Crown Point Photofacial treatment, contact Crown Med Spa today.

Clear and Smooth

What is a Photofacial?

Photofacials are best known for minimizing the visible signs of premature aging, sun damage, capillaries, and discoloration. Venus Versa’s powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology utilizes pulsed light to diminish any unwanted pigment or vascular lesions by penetrating through the skin’s deepest layers, as well as improving overall skin tone, and may improve fine lines and wrinkles. The Photofacial is made virtually pain-free with its crystal cooling tip, making it a comfortable treatment and providing dramatic results with little to no downtime.

What to Expect

Your Photofacial Procedure

During your Photofacial Crown Point patients will be comfortably reclined wearing protective goggles to shield your eyes from the intense pulsed light (IPL). Your laser technician will use the Venus Versa device to direct multiple wavelengths of light onto the skin, targeting specific pigments or blood vessels depending on the skin concern being addressed. The device’s cooling tip keeps the sensation of the treatment minimal.

In order to see optimal results, photofacials are typically performed in a series of 4-6 treatments, with each session spaced 3-4 weeks apart. The entire treatment process usually takes about 15-20 minutes per session and is completely customized based on your skin type. Our certified technicians will be able to determine if Photofacials are the right treatment option for you during your consultation.

Photofacial Recovery and Aftercare

A photofacial comes with minimal downtime, but some aftercare steps can optimize results and ensure your comfort. Expect some redness and a sensation similar to a mild sunburn immediately after the treatment. This usually subsides within a day to a week, depending on how aggressive the treatment was.

You may notice dark spots temporarily becoming darker as the pigment rises to the surface of the skin and then flakes off. We will provide aftercare guidelines, including protecting your skin from direct sun exposure, avoiding heat and irritants, and sticking to a gentle skincare routine as your post-treatment skin recovers.

Luminous Results

Photofacial Results

Right after the treatment, you might notice a subtle improvement in skin tone and a reduction in pigmentation issues. Some people also report a smoother texture immediately post-treatment. Over the following days to weeks, the full benefits of a Photofacial become more apparent. Sunspots, freckles, and pigmentation start to fade, while skin texture improves gradually. Reduction in redness caused by rosacea or vascular issues might also become noticeable.

Meanwhile, the stimulation of collagen production leads to gradual improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin firmness. This effect continues to develop over several weeks to months after a series of treatments.

IPL (Phototofacial) Post Care Instructions

  • Post treatment discomfort is mild, and you may immediately return to your regular activities. Avoid hot baths, pools, excessive heat to the face. Cooling compress may be applied if excessive heat is felt.
  • Avoid any Sun exposure for 2 weeks following your treatment. This includes tanning beds and artificial tanning lotions during your entire treatment, and 2 weeks before. Always use an SPF of 30 or higher.
  • Browning, darkening of skin pigment, purplish or black tints, as well as crusting of pigmented area over a few days, may all occur as part of normal post-treatment healing. Crusting will flake off, and while erythema and edema may also appear, these symptoms will resolve in 3-7 days.
  • Blanching, greying, or a deep purple tinting of the vessel may occur over the course of a few days as the damaged tissue will be broken down and absorbed. This may last approximately 3-7 days.
  • Moisturizer may be applied 24 hours after each treatment, apply regularly throughout the course of your treatment. You may also apply makeup at this time, but it is important that make up be removed at night.
  • Any use of retinoids, retinols, active ingredients, or photosensitizing products should be avoided a week before and a week following your treatment.
